Friday Flicks

2 big new movies arriving in the North East this weekend.

The first is the third in the Ice Age franchise, called Dawn Of The Dinosaurs....where the term Ice Age becomes pretty much redundant early on when the cast from the first two films stumble upon an entirely new world beneath the ice.

Big difference as well - this one is Ice Age 3D.....so you get the lovely colourful specs that they used to hand out stuck to the front page of Look In magazine.

The cast for this is huge with the addition of Britain’s current film comedy golden boy, Simon Pegg, as Buck The Swashbuckling Weasel.

Kids will love it....Mums and Dads will audibly groan when at the end Buck declares “This was fun - we could make it a regular thing”

Much more up Mum and Dad’s street, especially Mum’s if Johnny Depp has his usual appeal, will be Public Enemies....directed by Michael Mann, and starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard.

It's the story of the life of bank robber John Dillinger, and the man hired to catch him.

John Dillinger has fascinated American audiences for years.

They view him as a modern day Robin Hood who stole from the institutions that ripped off the average American...and occasionally he shared his takings with the average American.

But there was another view entirely from Folk Hero....Public Enemy number 1.

Johnny Depp’s John Dillinger is pursued by Christian Bale’s FBI Agent Melvin Purvis, the man brought in for the job by J Edgar Hoover.

Sounds good doesn’t it.....and they’re already mentioning Oscars for next year about this one.

Ice Age 3D Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, and Public Enemies are out now in Aberdeen, and still showing - Year One, My Sister’s Keeper, Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen, The Hangover and Terminator Salvation.

Don't forget, if you want to see any of those for free...Jeff’s here from 4, in for Andy all this week...and he's got free tickets up for grabs.
